• Ask and You Shall Receive

If you could ask for ANYTHING in the world, what would it be? Would you ask for a brand-new car? A house? A million dollars? Or, perhaps you would ask for something less materialistic like a cure for your deadly disease, the unity of your family, the love back in your marriage, a good relationship with your children, a job to pay the bills, food to satisfy your hunger, etc. Back in ancient times, when David, King of Jerusalem, died and left the throne to his son, Solomon, the Almighty God, creator of the Heavens and the Earth said to Solomon, “Ask! What shall I give you?” (1 Kings 3:5,…

  • Somebody Help Us!

I look around and I see disorder.  I see the divorce rate getting higher and higher.  I see unfaithfulness and promiscuity get more and more popular.  I see children disrespecting their parents.  I see parents abandoning their children and letting the government have them.  I see newer and rarer diseases being found.  I see people killing their neighbor and think nothing of it.  I see same sex marriages and their growing acceptance.  I see mothers killing their unborn child and get no reprobation for it.  I see corruption in our government.  I see dishonesty.  I see political slavery.  I see people losing control of themselves.  I see people being unhappy…

  • A Gift for God

About a year ago, I asked God for a baby.  He heard me and sent me my son Julian.  Before I made this request, I knew I wanted to give my children to God, especially my firstborn.  What better hands to place my child than The Almighty’s?  Therefore, as a form of gratitude, I consecrate my son, Julian, to God.  I want his life, as well as mine, to be for the Lord. Thousands of years ago, the Lord said to Moses, “Consecrate to me all the firstborn, whatever opens the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and beast; it is mine.” (Exodus 13:2).  One might say…

  • God Always Comes Through

In my last blog post, I expressed how I often worry about things in my life that I cannot control.  Not being in control makes me anxious because I don’t know what’s going to happen.  This is something that I have been working on and that God has been helping me through. This morning, the Spirit reminded me of the many times I have been in a rut, worrying how I am going to handle the situation, and how God has seen me through.  I realized all the great things God has done for me and how blessed I am. By the will of my Father, I have been able…

  • Giving Up control

Recently, I realized how much of a control freak I am. I have a moderate type A personality. I am very goal oriented and I like to see things get done. I also like to solve problems, even if they are not mine to solve, which leads me to take on more than I can bear. I like to make sure things get done and that they get done well. I hate it when nobody takes initiative to do things, and so I just volunteer to do them myself. This is probably why anxiety is a thorn in my flesh… a weakness. I worry when I have problems that I…

  • The One Who is ALWAYS There

This past weekend, my family and I put our wonderful 12-year-old dog Simba to sleep.  He was very sick.  It has been devastating, to say the least.  Many who do not have pets or whom have never lost one cannot understand the pain we’re going through.  My mom explains to her friends, “Simba is the one that was always there, when nobody else was.”  When there was no one else in the house, he was the one keeping you company, following you everywhere you went.  He was a true companion and friend, and it is hard to get used to him not being there anymore. What my mom said –…
