Trust in God. That’s easier said than done. Not because God is not trust-worthy, but because we have so little faith. Time and time again, God has come through. He has proven to us over and over again how much He loves us, regardless of how unworthy we are. Yet, when times of trouble come, we doubt whether He’s going to help us out AGAIN, and whether we have been good enough to deserve His love and mercy.
Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. (John 14:1 NKJV)
Our faith is so much smaller than a mustard seed. We don’t comprehend the magnitude of God’s love for us. We don’t understand that this love doesn’t depend on how good we are. God doesn’t love us because we did something to deserve it. He loves us just because. To me, this is one of the biggest mysteries of life – why does God love us so much?
As a loving Father, God does not want anything bad for us. Whatever He wills for our lives is for our betterment. Even if He’s chastising us, it is for our betterment, though it might not be very fun for us at the present time. Our Father is the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth and the sustainer of everything in it. He knows everything. He knows us better than we know ourselves and he knows what is best for us. If there is anybody we can trust to do what is right for us and everyone else, it is Him.
When times of trouble come and you are worried about the worst coming true, think about the many times God has come through for you. How many times did He let you down? How many times was the outcome bad? How many great lessons have you learned from “bad” times? Do you really think that THIS time it is going to be different?
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV)
Do not let the voice of the enemy whisper thoughts of doubt in your ear. God is the same yesterday and today and forever. He has been good to us before, He is good to us now. We can always trust in Him!
The Lord is good,
A stronghold in the day of trouble;
And He knows those who trust in Him. (Nahum 1:7 NKJV)
